Best Virgin Island Hiking Spots
Did you know the Virgin Islands has excellent hiking trails? Turns out we do, and we’ve featured some of our favorite hikes below. The quality of local hiking is aided by the interesting topography and lush landscapes of the area. St. Thomas is even known locally as “Rock City” since it’s essentially one large mountain coming out of the water.
It’s no accident that when you think of the U.S. and British Virgin Islands images of sitting on a lounge chair holding a drink with a mini umbrella in it likely comes to mind. Still, it’s worth noting that there are numerous hikes that let you experience parts of island ecology that few have. For example, the Sandy Cay Trail in USVI is a rare dry scrub forest. If you walk the trail overlooking the glowing water you might see Laughing Gulls, hermit crabs, hummingbirds, and more!
Many hiking trails like Sandy Cay are only accessible by boat. So if your perfect island-hopping family excursion includes some trail time in addition to snorkeling and everything else we offer on our chartered tours, we’re perfect for each other. Let’s get started planning your trip today!
